CONNECT… You know there is something different within this word. It means much more. I could have used any other word instead like lets talk, speak, reach, communicate, interact or anything else. But CONNECT was to think as reflects you speak, listen, read or write!
There were instances when I seemed just to be lost even when I’m physically present, seeing, listening. But what was missing that I was not thinking! Pity! What use is a life spent without understanding yourself and others?
We, in our fast pacing lives, have lost the connection. All we do is see, meet, talk and hear but seldom take a moment to ponder and think about what the other person just spoke to you. Innumerable times, I have done that myself. Listening to my mother who loved talking to me about her daily encounters (an important part in an Indian housewife’s life), I recollect that I have not understood what she said and begged to say all that once again. I failed to connect. To understand the undercurrent. Her thought process. What she said? Why did she say it? What was she thinking about? Did it mean a little more what it seemed to? Oh! I missed all this!
The railway is aptly called the lifeline. Yes it is. But it is only there’s no life to it. All it does is shuttle people across. It strives to bring people together, those who you could have never encountered whatever you try. But no, we would rather tuck in our earphones in our ears and hum away, missing the chuckle the nearby infant made, the conversation that teenagers got involved in, elders worrying about the new generation. Yes! You missed it all!
What difference does it make… you ask? You lose out on the one and only precious life. How would have I ever known that there exists something as that I had no idea about? How would I learn new things? How would I understand what runs through the mind of a vendor who just cursed? All of this only to find some answers to a number of WHY’s and HOW’s. you may differ in the view of the reason but yet you’ll be a part. Because the mind is programmed to ask unanswered questions BY DEFAULT.
I had a lot of questions and difference of opinion which I know my friends and others would have too. And we would end up saying, ‘Forget na yar, nothings gonna change!’ I refuse to accept that. If you wish to join me, shed your inhibitions and voice yourself.
I do not know what my aim is right now about the creation of such a site to voice. I have no intuition of what I intend to do ahead raising these questions. But may be the answer lies in the future!
